1943 Plane Crash Near Jay Peak

Plane crash near Jay PeakToday (Wednesday 9/8/2016) a news crew from WCAX (reporter Cat Viglienzoni and photographer Lance MacKenzie) were at the Jay Peak Resort to visit the mountainside wreckage of a Canadian military aircraft that slammed into the mountain in 1943. One airman was killed in the crash. Last week a trail crew rediscovered the wreckage. The news crew was at the resort to interview those who re-located the crash site decades after the tragedy occurred. I was interviewed because of my historical knowledge of the crash, including publishing an article about it in 2008 in our monthly magazine, Vermont’s Northland Journal. If everything goes as planned, the segment will air Thursday night on WCAX. — Scott
