An event in Derby, Vermont on Saturday, May 23 will pay tribute to the Gold Star families of Vermont – families who have lost loved ones in America’s wars – past and present. One of the speakers at the event is Caroline Heydinger of Vernon, a senior at Brattleboro Union High School.

Caroline received national attention in March when she came in second in the nation at the 72 American Legion National High School Oratorical Contest held in Indianapolis. She recently shared her talents on the floor of the Vermont House of Representatives where she wowed House members.
