Thomas Salmon of St. Johnsbury, the state auditor of accounts, who only recently returned home from a tour of duty with the Navy Sea Bees in Iraq, will speak at the Gold Star event. Mr. Salmon spoke at a statewide gathering of World War II last year, which was also hosted by the Wheeler family and the Elks Lodge in Derby,  only days before he shipped out to Iraq.
