Derby is one of, if not the fastest, growing communities in Vermont. In a few short decades Derby has transformed itself from a farming community to the shopping center of Orleans County. While other communities flounder, Derby continues to succeed and move forward. Derby was home to many mills during the 18-hundreds and early 19-hundreds including along the Clyde River as it passes through the village as seen in this photo. This photo was taken on the South end of Main Street. One of the mills that stood along the Clyde River in the village. The A.E. Boucher Store was located on the south end of Main Street. The St. Francis Store was also located on the South end of Main St. A horse drawn roller packing down the village's Main Street. Kelly's Cabins was located in Derby, only yards from the Village of Derby Line. The village of Derby Line, which is located in the town of Derby, was once a bustling community. That is no longer the case. Another view of the Village of Derby Line. World 1 troop march pass the Derby Line Hotel, a building which is long gone.
